Following the grand success of ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’, the young superstar seems to have transcended with his ideas of hop-skipping into newfangled roles. His upcoming film ‘Vaanam’ will be a multi-starrer project. The film is a remake of Telugu movie ‘Vedam’ and features Simbhu, Bharath, Anushka and Prakash Raj in lead roles. Sonia Agarwal makes her comeback after a long sabbatical interval through this movie.
Filmmaker Krish, the director of original version wields megaphone for this film as well. The film is about 5 different plots simultaneously narrated and they coalesce together during climax portions. Silambarasan performs the role of Cable Raju and Sneha Ullal as his love interest while Bharath and Vega of ‘Saroja’ fame own a rock band, Anushka takes on the role of a commercial sex worker and wants to start her own brothel house. On the pars, there are couple of other characters – Prakash Raj, who plays the role of a Muslim always occurring in the bad pages of Police department because of ‘Islamic’ factor and Sonia Agarwal his wife. Saranya is a desolated widow, who comes to Chennai for selling her kidneys so that she pay back the loan money to her lender with interest rate and get her son rescued.
All these characters come across each other at an unexpected point and it will change their lives forever.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored music for the film and Nirav Shah has handled cinematography. The film is produced by Ganesh of VTV Productions in collaboration with Jithan Ramesh of Idiot Box Pictures.
The film’s shooting has been 75% completed and is scheduled to hit screens in November.
