Sundar c1 300x225 Movie Review: Nagaram

Banner: Avni Cinemax
Production: Kushboo Sundar
Direction: Sundar C
Star-casts: Sundar C, Anuya, Bose Venkat, G Srinivasan, Vadivelu and others
Music: Thamman
Lyrics: Vairamuthu

Story:

Selvam (Sundar C) is a hardcore criminal who decides to give up his activities and decides to lead a good and peaceful life. With the help of his boss Bhai (G Srinivasan) and police friend Sakkara Pandi (Bose Venkat), he gets a new job in Hyderabad. There he meets a beautiful dancer (Anuya) and falls in love with. Within few days, even she reciprocates for his feelings and they decide to get married. But on their marriage day, Selvam is dragged into the scene of crime in an unexpected way. He is unaware about the true colors of his close friends and gets trapped into a serious problem that nearly costs his life.

Star-casts and Performance:

Sundar C limits himself to a naturalistic performance and there are no exaggerations. Anuya looks perfect with her role and emotes well. There is nothing much to boast about the liplock and it was just a crap idea to sensationalism. Vadivelu steals the show with some of his best comedy liners, but most of them are parallel tracks. Bose Venkat takes on an impressive show and his grey-shaded characterization is colossal. Veteran actor G. Srinivasan also does justice to his role.

Direction:

Sundar C has copied the most famous Hollywood film ‘Carlito’s Way’ that had Al Pacino and Sean Penn in lead roles. The very beginning of the film till the end seems to be more of the same plot. The characters are blatantly the same. Sundar C, Bose Venkat’s grey shaded role, Anuya as dancer. Everything has been replicated from the Hollywood movie. However, there are some interesting moments of commercial ingredients.

Technical Department:

D. Imman’s music is average and two songs are appreciable. Cinematography has some realistic shots and editing is neat and clean. Art direction requires special mention as set works doesn’t boast of artificialness.

Verdict:

Sundar C has copied the film from Hollywood movie ‘Carlito’s Way’, but has kept it a point of entertaining the audiences with some commercial ingredients. A kind request to Sundar C – one can get influenced or inspired from another work. But in case of copycatting, they can mention a ‘Thank You’ note to the original creators.
