Music Review: Mayakkam Enna
Production: Gemini Film Circuit, AUM Productions
Direction: Selvaraghavan
Star-casts: Dhanush, Richa Gangopadhyay and others
Music: G.V. Prakash
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan, Dhanush

Following the huge success of several hit movies, brother Selvaraghavan and Dhanush are coming together again for this film ‘Mayakkam Enna’. The film’s title has raised everyone assumptions that it would be yet another different love story from director Selvaraghavan. But the director has made it clear that ‘Romance’ is a part of this film, but it’s not a ‘Love Story’. G.V. Prakash has come up with commendable numbers and ‘Mayakkam Enna’ comprises of 6 tracks that are enjoyable to the core.

1. Naan Sonnathum Mazhai Vandhucha

Vocals: Naresh Iyer, Saindhavi

Lyrics: Selvaraghavan

Naresh Iyer loses his nerves and goes about rocking with the track on an unusual style. The bass works and beats in rhythm box and distorted guitars put up heaviness to the track. Overall, it’s an electrifying track that will surely gain the interests of everyone on the first time they hear it.

2. Pirai Thedum

Vocals: G.V. Prakash, Saindhavi

Lyrics: Dhanush
Very sweet heart-binding melodies that will make you feel the essence of love. A song to always dedicate for your loved ones and everything sounds perfect with the track. Since G.V. Prakash and Saindhavi have their feelings for each other, they blatantly express through this song. The musical quotients have been well structured.

3. Mayakkam Enna ThemeMusic

The instrument takes off in a melodious style and then it goes through different style of genres. We will have watch for the visuals that will carry this music in this film.

4. Ennana Seidhom

Vocals: Harish Raghavendra

Lyrics: Selvaraghavan

This is a spiritual song and it’s more like A.R. Rahman’s ‘Khwaja Endhan Khwaja’ song from ‘Jodha Akbar’. Selvaraghavan has done a remarkable job with his lyrical lines that are so divine. Just listen to this song and there is no stopping. Harish Raghavendra sways with his mellifluous style of rendition.

5.Kadhal En Kadhal

Vocals: Dhanush, Selvaraghavan

Lyrics: Selvaraghavan

This is like a casual conversation between friends as the protagonist laments over the failure of his love and his friends get down for the solace. This will gain more popularity with the dance and in theatres, there will be kind of huge response for this song.

6.Voda Voda

Vocals: Dhanush

Lyrics: Dhanush

So simple and it’s an effortless performance by the entire crew – G.V. Prakash, Dhanush and the instrumentalists. But it will surely rock with the visuals. The lyrics are so catchy that it becomes the center of attraction.
On the whole, ‘Mayakkam Enna’ songs have a great style of music by G.V. Prakash and it’s worth buying for the pennies you have paid.
Verdict: Go gaga with this album
