Interview: Director Vijay speaks on ‘Deiva Thirumagan’

‘This will be the greatest milestone in Vikram’s career. The records he created with ‘Sethu’, ‘Pithamagan’ and ‘Anniyan’ will be broken by him in this movie. Soon after completing the script works, one actor who came to my mind was none other than Vikram. I can assure that the National Award Members Committee can keep the trophy of ‘Best Actor’ for Vikram now itself’.

We hear it straight from the shoulders of director Vijay, who is busy now working on the post production of his upcoming film ‘Deiva Thirumagan’.

It’s really exciting to see Vikram in such a different and new avatar…

This is my dream project. I turned to be a child by myself to make this movie. I am here to take you for the trip of reviving your childishness. Vikram’s character in this movie is about a man with the heart and mindset of 5-year old kid. A kid at this age would usually have the maximum intelligence to question – Who painted the butterflies so beautifully? Vikram is one such personality. He doesn’t harm or even think bad about others and he is unable to do it. The person who doesn’t have bad thoughts, lust, jealousy and any evil elements…. Only two people in the whole world would have posses such blessings to be away from them and they are none other than – Hermits and Kids. Everyone cannot become a hermit, but anyone can become a kid within fraction of seconds.

Usually we call the ones who aren’t having the bad qualities of the world as ‘Mentally Challenged Personalities’ and I acclaim them as ‘God’s Child’.

Nice to hear it…. You must strained taking more efforts.

Me and Vikram sir had researched a lot. We spent more time with the mentally challenged people in ‘Udavum Karangal’, a hospitality home meant for the special people. For a period of one month, Vikram sir spent day and night with them and got under the skin of characterization. If he wasn’t there, I would have never made this film. Even at the shooting spots, I would stand awe-stricken by his performance and many times forgot to say ‘Cut’ for the shots. He is such an amazing actor and he is sure to win National award for this film.

Anushka and Amala Paul – Any Double Dhamaka from these hotties?

This isn’t an usual film where you can expect 4 duet songs, couple of fights and usual commercial potboiler type stories. If Anushka focuses and continues in Tamil films, she can be the next one to hold an important position in the league of famous versatile actresses like Savithri, Revathy and Suhasini. Santhanam, who usually appear for tickling funny bones, does make you laugh heavily and soak your eyes with emotions as well. My chemistry with G.V. Prakash has been good in the previous ones and this time we have reached new level.

Feeling so child in heart is the ever biggest gift in the universe and I have tried to treat audiences on this concept.
