We literally feel giving an introduction towards the film’s details is gonna get you dragged towards
the end. ‘Why This Kolaveri?’ song gained its highest glory across the globe for its catchy lyrics and
musical score and it captured the hearts of universal audiences. But the film has something more
than this song to offer as it becomes just a part of it and not everything that promotes 3.

Produced by R.K. Productions Pvt. Ltd & Wunderbar Films Pvt Ltd, the film marks the debut
directorial of Aishwarya Dhanush with Shruthi Hassan starring opposite him in female lead
character. The film has an ensemble star-cast of famous TV anchor-turned-actor Shiva Karthikeyan
and Sundar, who played Dhanush’s buddy in Mayakkam Enna.

The story travels through the journey of childhood sweethearts Ram (Dhanush) and Janani (Shruthi
Hassan). It’s about the beginning of new love in schooldays followed by their marriage after 5
years. Their parents though reluctant at first agree for their happy future. But the story takes an
intense twist with the simultaneous shift between flashback and the present time.

It’s an emotional drama and when you walk out of theatres after the show, you’ll go speechless for
the next few minutes. Especially, the second half where the buried truth is unravelled by Sundar to
the desolated Shruthi, you’ll have turbulence of emotions – cry, smile and tears simultaneously.

While the directors of Kollywood have been acquainted with multiple personality, the makers have
chosen bipolar syndrome as the backdrop.

If you’re looking out for the best performance of Dhanush till the date, it’s none other than 3.
The collage of his characterizations from Thulluvadho Ilamai, Polladhavan and Mayakkam Enna
is splendid. The scene where he showcases his change in character is awesome followed by the
spellbinding performance in climax.

Shruthi Hassan suits to the role with more perfection and she is over the top across all the scenes.
She keeps lamenting throughout major portions and wins our sympathy. Sundar of Mayakkam Enna
strikes splendidly with a fantastic show. He has more footage equivalent to Dhanush and Shruthi
Hassan.

Prabhu, Banupriya, Rohini have performed with excellent panache.

Shiva Karthikeyan adds more to the humour quotients with his witty lines.

Technically, it’s newcomer Anirudh stealing the show. His background score adds more intensity
to the film in every frame. This is obviously his direct flight to A-league of music director in Indian
music industry.

The cinematography is top-notching and transitions in editing are so smooth that you don’t find the
change in scenes.

Overall, 3 serve as an emotional roller coaster for everyone and it encompasses the most
predominant psychological problem that might be prevalent within us. The director’s ability to give
more prominence to love and friendship deserves tons of applause.

Verdict: Speechless…Emotional and beyond excellence
